B.o.n.e.

Musician/Producer

My name is James McCann (aka B.o.n.e.), and I've been writing and creating music for about 10 years. I mostly write rap/R&B songs, but I have a love for every music genre, which is displayed through my work with diverse musicians, artists, and bands.

I began taking music seriously when I met a good friend of mine in college who is an extremely talented and dedicated producer, Mike Watters (aka Watters on the Beat). Him and I went onto release my first album, Set Sailin', in 2014. In 2017, we released a 28-track banger called 243 (pronounced Two Four Three), which was a mash of dope jams made over the years as roommates. After learning a thing or two from Pittsburgh's finest, I started music production myself, which led to the release of The Funnies in 2022. While similar in style in comparison to my old projects, the music I make now, which is expressed throughout The Funnies, is more thought-provoking and less repugnant in terms of cursing or offensive language as I believe derogatory lyrics are ubiquitous and generally accepted throughout the music industry.

After sharing our work with one another for years on end, Justin Davis (aka Jdav) and I finally decided to combine our talents of rap and spoken word, which led to the creation of The Funnies. I had the honor of producing the music behind Jdav's spoken word pieces throughout the album, which simultaneously coincided with my songs and the ongoing storyline of the project.

The Leftovers is a follow-up project to The Funnies that was released in 2024. I once again had the pleasure of producing the music for the project, which would come to be Jdav's first solo spoken word album. The music production, however, would not be possible without the contribution from other friends and artists, such as Watters on the Beat, Tom Smulowitz (aka Smully), Ben Onett, and Kojau.

With The Funnies and The Leftovers wrapped up, I plan to dive into some personal projects, featured tracks, and live performances. Stay tuned for much more to come!
